Footprints in the sand.

The relentless tide takes

Even the deepest.

Composed for Writing 201. The challenge was to write a haiku on the theme of water, containing a simile, though I’ve opted for a metaphor instead.

Earlier, I posted another haiku, which I actually wrote a couple of weeks ago for Carpe Diem Haiku Kai but thought fitted this theme too well not to recycle:

Glimpsed through dark trees,

Sun sparkles on water –

A poem half formed.

And here’s another one I composed in January, shortly after I began writing haiku:

Chambermaid looks out

As sea slides smoothly away

And new sheet billows.
