Over seaweed fronds

And rivulets in the sand

A shadow hand plays

Seaside at sundown,

My son drags a long shadow

And a broken kite.

For Carpe Diem: Kite

No photo for this one – not least because my son is now 17!

In low sun through mist

Tall, thin silhouettes approach

Like shadows risen.

For Carpe Diem Time Glass on the theme of “fog”.

My long shadow trails

As I walk, face in low sun –

Sulking, she leaves me.

My shadow lengthens

As we flee the setting sun.

Too slow: dusk takes her.
